Sistema Aoteaora Logo

Sistema Aotearoa is a charitable trust focused on equity, community empowerment and personal growth through orchestral music-making.

We recently marked our 10th birthday as part of the Auckland Arts Festival, featuring over 250 performers on stage celebrating the achievements of our tamariki and whānau. We are now an established part of South Auckland life, successfully bridging youth development and arts education for the enjoyment of tamariki, their whānau and the wider community.

During 2020, despite Covid-19 lockdowns, we worked with 35 participating schools and early learning services, over 360 whānau, ran 23 concerts and performances, to over 5000 audience members.

We have powerful partnerships, including with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, contracts with various government agencies, and funders/donors from Auckland’s philanthropic community.

We are looking to appoint one or more new trustees, from 1 August 2021, for a three-year term (renewable).

New trustees will have an equity mindset and a strong connection to South Auckland communities and the creative arts, especially music.

You will be expected to be able to tell our story with authenticity and passion to a wide audience; your networks will add powerfully to our kaupapa.

In addition, we are looking for one or more of the following:
• Previous governance experience or leadership and/or a willingness to participate in governance training
• Financial capability
• Entrepreneurial flair
• Standing in Māori or Pasifika communities

We are willing to invest in you.  If you are interested in joining us, please provide a covering letter and CV to our board chair Bernardine Vester bvester@eduplus.co.nz; or to our Programme Director Rod Skipp rods@sistemaaoteaoroa.org.nz by 25 June 2021.
